Here at RAW News, we cover all the latest stories, keeping you up to date with both national and international affairs, as well as all the issues affecting Warwick students here on campus. Tune into our huge range of shows: including Insight for for analysis on the latest political drama from our well informed student panels, This Just In! for a more light-hearted take on the week’s news, and SUQs to get the lowdown on all that’s going on in SU politics, as well as much much more!

Everyone is always welcome to the News Dep, whether you have an idea to start a show of your own, or fancy guesting on a couple of shows to see what its like, don’t hesitate to come along! Speech

Welcome to the Speech and Entertainment Department! This the place where we cover a wide range of show formats and topics and is the home for Game Shows, History shows, Advice shows, Talk shows and so much more! If you are someone who wants to make a factual show, a trivia show, a challenge show, a comedy show, a talk show or anything in between then this is the place for you!

How to Get Involved

If you would like to get involved then please join our WhatsApp group where you will also be treated to our exclusive polls and discussions! You can also follow us on Instagram and reach out to us on X (aka Twitter). Also feel free to contact the Head of the Department to discuss any show ideas you may have!

Arts

The Arts Department is your place for anything creative! We cover a wide range of different topics, from talking about film and television to theatre and performance, or even some of of your favourite pastimes like gaming, art and crafts or reading. The Arts Department is there to facilitate the discussion of different topics within the arts sphere, provide updates on the latest headlines and news of the creative industries, and most importantly, create entertaining radio shows about your favourite parts of the arts!

How to get Involved

If you have an idea for an arts show of your own, feel free to contact the Programme Controller about getting your show on the schedule! If you would like any assistance with creating a show, contact the current Head of Arts for some advice in making a show, be that from coming up with a concept or name, to just getting it off the ground and running, the Head of Arts is there to help and offer any tips for first time presenters and long-time arts-fanatics!

Sports

The RAW Sport Department covers all things sports. Whether you're a fan of football, rugby, basketball, F1 or perhaps you have an interest in a niche sport, the RAW sport department will help you cover your passions! RAW Sport will also be the main player regarding Varsity coverage, the annual full day of Sports competition between Warwick and Coventry University, where you'll experience a very action packed and fun day!

How to get Involved

Members can get involved with the department by messaging the RAW Sport Instagram handle @raw1251sport where you will be invited to a WhatsApp group chat that discusses the latest in sports constantly! You can also receive guidance on how to set up your own sports-based radio show from the Head of Sports.

Music

If you're passionate about music and want to dive into student radio, RAW's Music Department is one of the best places to start! We’re responsible for all music-focused programming on the station, from shows that spotlight the latest releases to genre deep-dives, music news, and timeless classics. Plus, we take the lead on RAW’s annual coverage of Battle of the Bands, one of the station’s biggest events of the year.

How to get Involved

Getting involved with the Music Department is easy and a great way to develop skills in presenting, editing, and media production. You’re always welcome to guest on existing shows; share your opinions, explore different genres, and contribute to live broadcasts reaching listeners across campus. Want to run your own show? Go for it! Whether you’re into underground beats or pop hits, you can create and host your own programme that reflects your unique taste in music.
There are also plenty of chances to interview artists and bands, and if live events are your thing, you can join our production team for Battle of the Bands - from conducting interviews to operating cameras and managing live visuals, there’s loads to get stuck into.

Tech

The backbone of RAW: Systems Engineering, Website, Audio, Outside Broadcasts and more

Possibly the most diverse of all the departments, RAW's tech department is incredibly large covering a magnitude of different areas of tech. From setting up Outside Broadcasts to enable RAW to cover a huge variety of different University events to creating the sounds of the station in the production department, RAW tech truly has it all. So whether you want to help build and improve a website, immerse yourself in the wiring of radio or simply just want to man a camera, RAW tech is the place!

What does RAW Tech do?

• Systems Engineering – Our in-house systems are the digital heartbeat of RAW, connecting our studios to our digital output. If you’re interested in Software, Hardware or Systems Engineering, there’s something for you!
• Website & Streams – We keep our sleek new website running as well as, most importantly, maintaining our streaming server.
• Studio & Audio – Passionate about sound & audio technology? You’re in good company!  From microphones to speakers, we make sure everything flows together in harmony.
• Outside Broadcasts – We’re the team behind every RAW Visuals event, providing audio and visual technology for live streams. This is a great way to get involved with RAW Tech and is also incredibly fun!
• Training – We provide Studio Training for all RAW Members. If you’d like to learn more about how the tech works – just ask and we’ll show you the ropes!
• Equipment Rentals – We also provide access to our equipment, available for hire by other societies. Contact our Technical Manager for more info!

How to get Involved

RAW Tech is open to everyone, regardless of experience. We’re a very welcoming group of like-minded Tech enthusiasts! If you’d like to get involved, make sure to join the Tech Group chat and there’ll be something for you!
